About the Blog

jamie familyHi, I am so glad you dropped by. My name is Jamie Schlegel and I am the organizer of this blog. Two of my favorite roles in life are being a wife and mom. I treasure my family and friends and would much rather meet for coffee than get anything done at home. When I am not packing lunches, chauffeuring my kids, or sneaking out of town with my husband, you can probably find me eating dessert or searching for the perfect emoji. I pretend to be graceful at my local Barre studio (refer back to dessert). I am a regular person, on my own course of discovering and following Jesus and am a work in progress. Currently, I am embracing the journey instead of striving for perfection.

Community and finding the good in others are two of my passions.

Enough about me. Let’s move on to why we are here and what this blog is about. I love Sarah’s heart for Refresh and am inspired by her faith in action. These two things coupled with my passion for community have led me to this blog. A few months ago, I had an idea for a collaborative blog. Through some dreaming and planning Sarah and I have come up with a really fun way to execute it. It will be a blog for Refresh Women, by Refresh Women.

The blog is intended to be a collective effort. Its purpose is twofold; first, to encourage the women of Refresh and second, to give the writer a venue to share their heart through the written (or typed) word. My goal is to publish a new blog post bi-monthly, written by a variety of Refresh women. Since we all are unique with different passions and talents, let’s learn from the best parts of each other. The hope is that this blog will be a tool to build community within Refresh. It’s a mini-platform for us to take a small “next step” in sharing Jesus with others. Personally, since the Refresh Houston retreat – this project is one of my next steps. Maybe writing a post is one of your next steps. It is important to me that we don’t let fear and intimidation rob us of what we could be doing.

The hope is that this blog will be a tool to build community within Refresh.

I could not be more thrilled to introduce you to some of my closest friends but also to women that I may not know as well. I am confident that each one has something special to say. So get some coffee, read your little heart out, and be refreshed – because I know the Lord has something in this for you.
